Arrrgh matey!

I know what you're thinking..... ANOTHER Card-in-a-box!!!  I made this one alongside the sparkly one for my daughter last week, but I couldn't share it until it had been received by its recipient.  This one was made for my Godson who turned 4 a few days ago.  The idea is CASE'd from Loretta Toms, an Australian demonstrator who shared her pirate card on our private ESAD Facebook group, but I can't find a blog or public link to share her creation with you.  The owl, plank and opening treasure-chest filled with gold doubloons were her inspiration, and I copied the parrot from Pinterest.

The pirate is of course made with the Owl Punch and the parrot with the Bird Punch.  I made the eyepatch with an offcut from the Envelope Punch Board, and the top of the Treasure Chest is made with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and one of the Chalk Talk Framelits.  The DSP is Soho Subway (Loretta originally used the Halloween DSP from last years Holiday Catalogue).  I love the World Map stamp as the background for my Treasure Maps too, inspired, if I do say so myself!!!!

Card-in-a-box.... again!!

I'm really enjoying making these Card-in-a-box style cards.  I've just finished this one for Jessie's 5th birthday next week - she will flip out over this!!

I love love love that I have re-discovered the cute wee owl and cupcake punches recently!  The DSP is Sunshine and Sprinkles, which is now retired but can be found still in MDS.  Colours are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Garden Green (now that Lucky Limeade (from the DSP) is also retired).  I must also confess to using a non-SU die for the "5", but doesn't it look puuuuurty in the silver glimmer paper!!!?  Also the sparkly stars cut from the Thinlets Circle Card Framelits.

ESAD Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop

I'm so happy to be part of another ESAD Blog Hop, this time showcasing the Occasions Catalogue, available now through til June 30th.

You may be starting here, or you may have arrived from Yvonne Walker.  Either way, I hope you enjoy our Blog Hop today.

The stampset I am showcasing is "Happy Congratulations", and from the moment I first saw this in the Occasions Catalogue, I was immediately intrigued by the fabulous colour combinations you could put together with the hanging balls.

First is Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana and Soft Sky.  I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position each ball inside its 'outline'.

Next up is the happy combination of Crisp Cantaloupe, Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight and Coastal Cabana.  These are set on a Sahara Sand backdrop (stamped with Off The Grid, from the Annual Catalogue) and the greeting is stamped with Early Espresso ink.  I was happy to discover (thanks to Justin Krieger for the tip!) that the 3/4" Circle Punch is an almost perfect fit.  I love the 3D effect of the balls done this way and popped up on a dimensional.

After trying several different colour combinations and loving them all, I then wanted to indulge my current infatuation with gold and I have to say, this is my absolute favourite!!!!

This card also uses some more new products from the Occasions Catalogue, the gold sequin trim ribbon, Watercolour Wonder Washi Tape and the heart in the centre ball is cut from a scrap of the Fancy Foil Gold Vellum.

The gold foil cardstock is a returning favourite from the 2013 Holiday Catalogue, I love the shine and sophistication it brings to this card, along with the gold embossing onto vellum.  The greetings are stamped in Gold Encore ink, another returning favourite.

Next on the hop is Delys Cram - enjoy her creations!

MDS Hybrid birthday invitations

My number-2 daughter turns 5 in a couple of weeks and is off on her first school visit tomorrow - I'm not sure how to feel about this!  Such a big adventure.
We are hiring a Bouncy Castle (with a slide, as per her instructions) for her party, so rather than going with themed invitations, I've gone with a generic "party" theme.  I used MDS to create a plain black card-front and information page for the inside, and I used our lovely SU colours and cardstock to tailor them for either our boy or girl guests.

I used the new stampset "Another Great Year" to stamp the cupcake and macaroons, Rose Red for Girls and Pacific Point for boys.  They are coloured in with my markers with Blushing Bride and Pool Party as the accent colours.  The most time-consuming part was the paper-trimming and gluing.

Easy peasy, and all ready for delivery to her little friends this afternoon.

Creations from the Occasions Catalogue

How are you enjoying the new Occasions Catalogue?  What is your favourite, what have you ordered already, and what is going to be on your next order?  I ordered an embarrassing amount during the demonstrator pre-order period, thanks to having some Christmas money to spend and selling a few of my retired products.  So here are a few of my latest creations to share with you!

This one uses a few of my favourites from the Annual Catalogue, as well as the new gold washi tape and bakers twine from the Occasions.  I saw the idea of making the togs out of the Dress-Up Framelits on Pinterest and really wanted to give it a try.  I've also dipped one of the vintage buttons in Versamark and embossed it with gold, I love how it turned out.  The colours are Coastal Cabana for the cardstock and Pool Party for the Gorgeous Grunge stamping.

Continuing with the gold theme, here is another one using the gold foil paper, gold accented vellum and gold bakers twine.  The On Film Framelits cut the polaroid for me, and the cute wee camera too.  The camera was inked up with Bermuda Bay ink before I ran it through the Big Shot on Whisper White cardstock, clever huh!  The background is Crumb Cake Core-dinations embossed with the Mosaic Embossing Folder, I think it gives a nice soft touch to go with the gold accessories.

I'm in love with the colour palette on this next one - Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar and Whisper White.  The DSP is Venetian Romance, and I actually cut the polaroid cutout with the Square Framelits because I wanted to stamp on the frame, and the On Film framelit has embossing on it.  It is backed with vellum and has a strip from the Filmstrip stamp behind it.  The embossing folder is the retired Vine St from last years Sale-a-bration, and the butterflies are from the AC.  So whoops - NOTHING from the Occassions on this card, but I love it anyway.

This one is just about ALL from the Occasions mini, phew!!  The colours are Pacific Point, Soft Sky and Whisper White, and were inspired by a friends photo of her white roses that she dyed blue.  They were of course made with the Spiral Flower Original Die, which is so fun to use, and play around with to achieve the different looks - scrunching, sponging, spritzing, looser and tighter!  The embossing folder is the new Arrows EF, can you tell I am loving the Core-dinations Cardstock?   And the stamp is from Perfect Pennants.

This one is all Sale-a-bration - Crisp Cantaloupe Core'dinations embossed with the Decorative Dots EF, the sentiment is from See Ya Later and the banner is made with the Banner Blast stampset and punch combo.  Some gold glimmer paper (and Baked Brown Sugar ink) and a Bermuda Bag button to finish it off, tied of course with some linen twine.

I don't do masculine very often, so this new Hardwood background stamp is just the ticket, paired with a greeting from the Starburst stampset and matching Framelits and some candy-dots.  Colours are Night Of Navy, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Whisper White.  Love the little owl from the Owl Builder Punch.

And there is that gorgeous owl again, this time in Pool Party and Tangerine Tango, which co-ordinate with the Retro Fresh DSP, and some more of that divine Baked Brown Sugar Core-dinations.  The Arrows EF gets another workout, as does the Starburst Framelit and the new Speech Bubble Framelits.  The cool thing about this card is the closure made with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, for which there are a few tutorial floating about, I forgot to note down where I first saw the idea, but I know Tanya Bell has also done a tutorial on it.

I hope you've enjoyed these projects, happy stamping!
